Inspired by a post on YA Vampire Books concerning a book meme questionnaire, I am reminded that I have read NO Meg Cabot.
What is essential Meg Cabot reading?
What's your least favourite?
If you haven't read her books, are you interested in any title in particular that you've seen around?
Can I skip her altogether?

Apparently my dear friend you and I suffer from the same wicked predicament/ailment. I too have never read a Meg Cabot. I too need to get a move on. Let me know what you discover :)
I have read almost all of her books, YA and adult. She is a great writer. She has an amazing ability to infuse humor and romance into her writing. She's actually one of my favorite writers.
My favorite book by her is probably the one you pictured: The Queen of Babble. That whole series is great, but I was disappointed with the ending just because I wanted her to end up with someone else.
I've read all the books in her Boy series and those are really fun, quick reads... I am reading the Mediator series right now and loving it so far.
She also has the Heather Wells series and I have read the 1st one in it and I liked the mystery, but I am not a fan of books that talk a lot about weight. I plan on reading the others in that series, but it's not a priority right now.
I haven't read the Princess Diaries series, but I will be soon. I absolutely love the movies so I think I have to read the books.
If you like cute, fun, humorous reads then you'll like Meg Cabot. I think you should at least give one of her books a try to see if you like her writing style. Or read her blog because that's pretty similar. Hope that helps.
I think Meg Cabot is essential reading for anyone interested in current YA.
Must reads (YA)-at least the first three Princess Diaries, Teen Idol, and maybe All American Girl
Must Reads (Adult)-The Boy Next Door; Boy Meets Girl; Every Boy's Got One
Least Favorite-The Mediator series (I'm not a fan of paranormal but I bet a lot of people love them); I'm also somewhat iffy on the Airhead series but I've been meaning to give them another chance.
Hope this helps!
NONONO.
You cannot skip her! She is one of of the more known writers for a reason! I haven't read all of her books but the ones I've had the pleasure of reading have been great. You should definetely read the Queen of Babble series. I adore that series :D
If you want something that's fluffy (but still quite enjoyable), you should read the Mediator series... or Pants on Fire. THAT is good quality fluff, lol. :)
WOW, guys! Holy Cow, thank you for this! I have some book ordering to do!
You have to read the Princess Diaries series and the Heather Wells series. Jinx and the Mediator series are also really good.
Gosh, you've been missing out! I love Meg Cabot's writing style. You really have to read Meg's books, they're funny and romantic, and her heroins are always very likeable.
I've read most of her books, and my favorites are:
* Pants on Fire
* 1-800-Where-R-U? series
* The Mediator series
* Heather Wells series (adult)
* She Went all the Way. (adult)
You should give one of her books a try, if you end up liking it, then you'll like all her other work too :)
Meg Cabot is SUCH a fun read. I also recommend the first three Princess Diaries (or at least the first book, it's brilliant). Boy Next Door is fun, too. And I just listened to the Airhead audiobook, which was great.
The Mediator's not my favorite (I only read too books), and neither are the Heather Wells books -- BUT they're still good. They're just not as awesome. Ditto on the All-American Girl books (but there's only two of them, and the second one has a GREAT do I/don't I sex plotline that's very well done).
Either way, she's definitely not an author to skip! Her writing is fresh, funny, and engaging, and her voice is awesome.
Meg Cabot is absolutely required reading for anyone interested in teen lit.
As people have mentioned before, the Mediator series is wonderful.
I'm also a fan of Airhead (the recent series)... It's very girl scifi... sorta. See? You just have to read it! I was also a fan of the standalone Jinx.
I'd say try just about any of her books and you won't be sorry!
I'm not much of a Meg Cabot fan but I enjoyed the All-American Girl series... I couldn't finish Airhead though.
I'd recommend PANTS ON FIRE. It's quintisenntial Cabot without getting you invested in a series... you can get a feel for her writing style (and if you want more) from that stand-alone.
I just finished reading Avalon High, and it was pretty good. If you've never read anything by her yet, I'd definitely give it a go.
You cannot see how far my jaw has dropped. I absolutely love Meg Cabot. (And particularly, The Princess Diaries series which I've been reading since I was a teen.)
You *must* get your hands on some Cabot.
WOW, what an outpouring of recommendations! Thanks to everyone. I am going to pick up some Meg Cabot very very soon. Thanks for helping me compile a list of what to read first!
